Sunday 18th January saw the 2nd Macquarie Club Stephen Smith Memorial Shoot take place.
Tony Corderoy along with his merry band of helpers: Jen Corderoy, Glen Bloink, Denis Coaker, Paul Purvis and Tony Monk went about creating an English Sporting course around our range.
All pairs some testing one’s ability others testing one’s sanity! The course enabled the shooters to shoot 100 targets straight which was appreciated in the heat & wind (that’s right we had wind affected targets – who would believe it).
The course created some heavy competition for the title with a 3 way shoot off – it was 4 but one shooter stood down. The reining champ Chris “Horse” Bourke, Stephen “Coop” Cooper & Dean “Deano” Delaney went head-to-head in a crucial contest for the honours!
Also shooting off were Wazza & Macca for 3rd in A Grade, Bloinky & Hally 3rd in B Grade but the real competition nail biting shoot off was between Paul Bell & Steph Neeves – the C graders put on the best show coming down to a sudden death single barrel test With Steph 1-0-0-0 and Paul 1-0-0-1.
Sharon always knew Stephen liked to make sure everyone was fed so she shouted the shooters lunch. Many thanks to Sharon and the committee who created the lunch.
It was great to see Sharon and Simon out for the day, Simon stepping up and having a crack at the course under the watchful eye of mum.
Smithy’s mum and dad – Jenny & Dick came out for presentation, and it was great for all of us to catch up with them. We couldn’t convince Jenny to take centre stage and present the trophy, but Dick proudly did the honours.
With newcomer Craig Howey winning the luck door prize, we are sure we will see him again.
Lucky Shooters Jackpot didn’t go off again this month, with Lance Murphy being drawn out unfortunately he was not eligible. Remember you must had attended that last 3 shoots and be present at the drawing.
Thank you must go to firstly our sponsors Macquarie Club Dubbo, their ongoing support to our club is truly appreciated.
Thank you to those who assisted in the kitchen, on the BBQ and in the office.
Big thanks to Tony Corderoy, Paul Purvis, Paul Bell, Michael O’Dell, Mel Phillips, Brett Hall & Mo Ross who took time to run around the range packing up and putting everything away. Would have been nice to have a few more helpers to shorten the time taken.
Winners Are Grinners
The reining Champ took honours again – Chris “Horse” Bourke with an 84 + 17 – what a great birthday present!
