Sunday 15th February brought the Duncan McGinness Veterinary 100 target event.

With the cooler weather and slight wind, shooters were treated to an array of targets.

Range captain Mel and Rob (who only was allowed to set 3 stands lol) and our awesome set up crew Grant Berryman, Paul Bell, Lance Murphy and Jack Atkins (yep roped him in as well) created an awesome range.

Range 1 started at the top South corner and followed the perimeter around the back of the entire club. Stand 1 welcomed shooters with a teal and high looper which unfortunately the wind played silly buggers with it but they were to be hit. Next were sneaky away and incommers, first round proved very hard to see so modifications were made for the 2nd round. Across the creek with a looper, away midi and one appearing from the bottom of the creek. Some may of overlead this one.

Next was Robs Rascally Rabbits in a corner of the range not shot before. One ran thru the bottom of the creek, bouncing over rocks and hills while the other along the top of the creek thru trees. Wasn’t that a great simm pair! Finishing range 1 was 2 outgoers just simply lobbing out in front with a R-L crosser behind the 2 trees – plenty of time in between. There were a lot of whole targets on the ground from the outgoers – perhaps shooters going a little too quick for them.

Range 2 – started with the dodge high incommers curling both ways and a crosser coming from nowhere to land at the base of the tree in front.  Stand 2 a simple battue going across the tree line, with a high incommer coming off our new investment the 15m tall scissorlift hidden in the trees. This is the first shoot it has been used for. Next was the aco truck – 2 very quick outgoers high & low – first round you didn’t blink, 2nd round a little nicer. Paired with an incommer from the high skeet tower made a great stand. Next, we did a 180 degree turn to face the super mini, batture and high crosser across the creek. And yes, I did put the super mini in the simm pair!

Lastly and another 180, we faced across the dam with a driven down target off the 1 tower, a high incommer off the castle and a full faced crossing looper from the dam bank.

Its been a while since we have used that much of the range without going up the middle and shooters enjoyed the variety of targets we put on offer.

Thanks goes to Rob & Mel for the determination of getting a trap on top of the scissor lift so it could be used. There may have been a few choice words said when lifting it up there – mostly Mel!

Thanks to the guys that jumped in and helped pack up – Paul Bell, Chris Bourke, Bloinky, Paul Purvis, Grant Berryman, Mel, Rob & PK. Your help was truly appreciated.

Thanks to everyone who helped in the kitchen, office and anywhere else that was needed.

Our biggest thanks goes to our Awesome Sponsor Duncan McGinness who I saw smiling all day. We are so thankful for his continued support of our little club. He brought out 3 of his staff members who I believe had the time of their life and we may have them hooked on our great sport.

Lucky Door prize was won by the one and only Duncan McGinness!

Shooter Jackpot was won by Tim Cheney who unfortunately was not eligible so it jackpots to $250. Remember you need to of attended the last 3 shoots and be at presentation to win it!

Congrats to Paula Purvis who scored herself a 25 Break Badge – well done!

High Gun Winner by 2 targets was Adam Carmichael! Go Adam!

Winners are Grinners
